Jamb  Sand

  • Silis Kumu

Silica sand is the most ideal sand for jamb used in insulation and jacketing. Sands used other than silica cause cracking and ruptures in jambs due to the calcium carbonate they contain.
While the silica used in jambs does not have the capacity to hold moisture, the water retention rate in products such as calcite and dolomite reaches up to 20%. When the jwall-mounted jamb dries, it naturally causes cracks on the surface and the water leaking from the cracks causes the jamb to swell.
Therefore, the optimum solution is to use silica in jamb production. However, the silica sand to be used should also be well washed and fired. 2 types of sand are used in the construction of jambs. First, jamb extraction sand must have a grain distribution of 100-400 microns and must not contain any dust. For the jamb sandblasting, the ideal sand is 200-600 microns.
